Are hemorrhoids common during pregnancy?
It is very common for pregnant women who are constipated to also experience hemorrhoids. Hemorrhoids are varicose, or swollen, veins in the rectum. Straining during bowel movements, and having very hard stools, may make hemorrhoids worse, and can sometimes cause them to protrude from the rectum.
Check with your provider before taking any medication for hemorrhoids. Simply eating a high-fiber diet, and consuming plenty of liquids, can help you relieve or avoid this problem.
Hemorrhoids usually improve after the baby is born.
